Adjusting the Soft Start Feature

Why is the Soft Start Feature Used?

The soft start feature is used to bring a vibratory unit back up to operational speed at a gradual pace. The ramp time can be spread over:

  • 10 seconds (max) in DC mode
  • 6 seconds (max) in AC mode.

The key benefit to slowly starting a feeder is that it reduces wear and tear. The soft-start feature eliminates the shock a feeder experiences when it is turned on and off.

It also helps maintain consistent feed rates by preventing parts/product from falling off the track and tooling. It is often used in vibratory feeding apllications that use a sensor to frequently turn the unit on and off.
